The Sri Lanka Police are seeking public assistance to apprehend a suspect who has absconded in connection with a massive financial fraud, allegedly involving the defrauding of individuals by promising jobs in Romania. The Financial and Commercial Crimes Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department is currently conducting a comprehensive investigation into this fraud.




According to the Police Media Division, this fraud was carried out through a private institution named Rainbow Garments Technologies (pvt) Ltd. Complaints have been received against this institution under the charges of breach of trust and criminal misappropriation of funds, by obtaining money from individuals with promises of providing jobs in Romania. Investigations have revealed that the said institution has defrauded over 920 million rupees from approximately 750 individuals in this manner.

Facts related to this incident have been reported to the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court, and the court has issued an open warrant for the arrest of a suspect who served as a director of the said company. The suspect for whom the warrant has been issued is 54-year-old Shirley Jayawardena Amadoru, who resided at No. 118/3, Samagi Mawatha, Magammana, Homagama. Her National Identity Card number is 716032531V.




The police urge the public to immediately report any information regarding this suspect, who has currently absconded from her area and is in hiding. Accordingly, the Police Media Division further states that information can be provided to the Officer-in-Charge of Financial Crimes Investigation Unit 01 on telephone number 071-8594910 or to the Criminal Investigation Department on telephone number 011-2444172.
