A pair of new lion cubs, born on December 24th last year at the Dehiwala National Zoo, are now open for public display. Mr. Chandana Rajapaksha, Director General of the Department of National Zoological Gardens, stated that these two animals consist of a male and a female lion cub.

Zoo authorities have decided to provide a special opportunity for children to suggest suitable names for these small lion cubs. This naming program, scheduled to begin next week, will run for a period of two weeks. The Director General further stated that there are also plans to offer special gifts to the winning children.

Authorities point out that these cubs, now four months old, are very active and display playful behavior. Visitors to the zoo are provided with facilities to observe the activities of these lion cubs daily between 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM.
