15-year-old newcomer Vibhav Suryavanshi recently succeeded in claiming a unique record that had remained unbroken for 14 years in the history of Indian Premier League cricket. He showcased this talent in a crucial match held in Chandigarh between the teams that secured third and fourth places according to the points table of this season's preliminary round.

This match, held between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, was organized to determine the team that would qualify for the second semi-final of this year's IPL tournament.

This left-handed batsman from Bihar is currently attracting everyone's attention as one of the most explosive young players in world cricket history. Born in 2011, Suryavanshi also made history as the first player born after 2008, the year the IPL tournament began, to enter this competitive arena. At the age of 12, he became the youngest player in Indian domestic cricket history by playing in the Ranji Trophy. Representing the India U19 team, he scored a rapid century off 58 balls against Australia and also scored 175 runs off 80 balls in the 2026 U19 World Cup final, becoming the player of the tournament. Due to his exceptional talent, Rajasthan Royals bought him for INR 1.1 crore at the age of 13, and at 14 years and 23 days, he became the youngest IPL player in history by making his IPL debut. A few days later, he claimed the record for the youngest centurion in T20 history by scoring a century off 35 balls against Gujarat Titans.

In this match held in Chandigarh, Rajasthan Royals, who won the toss and elected to bat first, posted a massive total of 243 runs for 8 wickets at the end of their allotted 20 overs. Embellishing the Rajasthan innings with an extremely explosive knock, Vibhav Suryavanshi managed to score 97 runs off just 29 balls, including 5 fours and 15 sixes. With this assault, his total number of sixes hit in this tournament rose to 65, enabling this young player to break the 14-year-old record of 59 sixes set by superstar Chris Gayle in 2012. Suryavanshi, who has been praised even by legends like Chris Gayle and Sachin Tendulkar, currently stands out as the Indian batsman with the most sixes hit in this season.

Chasing a massive target of 244 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad could only manage 196 runs before being all out in 19.2 overs. Consequently, Rajasthan Royals recorded a magnificent 47-run victory and qualified for the second semi-final of this year's tournament. This crucial second semi-final is scheduled to be played tomorrow between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans. The team that wins this match will get the grand opportunity to compete for this year's IPL championship against Royal Challengers Bangalore, who have already secured a direct spot in the grand final.
