
A father who fatally assaulted his daughter with an iron rod following an escalating argument over the picking of a jackfruit has been arrested by Kalutara North Police. The victim of this tragedy is Thilini Madushani, a 35-year-old mother of one, residing in the Waskaduwa area.
Police confirm that the suspect father is a 63-year-old individual also residing in the Kalutara North area.According to police investigations, it has been revealed that the deceased daughter and the suspect father previously lived in two adjacent houses in the Kalutara North area. However, due to a long-standing dispute between them, the daughter had moved to a rented house in the Waskaduwa area with her husband and young daughter. The father had picked a jackfruit from a jackfruit tree located on the land where the daughter previously resided, and a neighbor had informed the daughter about this via a phone call.
Following that notification, the daughter immediately arrived at the location, where a severe confrontation ensued between the father and the daughter. During this altercation, the enraged suspect reportedly took an iron rod from the house and struck the daughter on her head, according to investigations conducted so far. After committing the murder, the suspect father, along with the iron rod used in the assault, went to the Kalutara North Police and surrendered.
