Neither she nor he would have ever imagined that the poisonous seed of suspicion could claim a young life in an instant. A 24-year-old young wife tragically died after jumping onto the road from a three-wheeler driven by her husband, due to intense suspicion that he was having an illicit affair with another woman.

According to Panamura Police, the young woman who faced this unfortunate fate is Dilhara Sewwandi, a resident of Buluthota, Yakmadiththa area.

On the 12th, the couple went to her ancestral home in Panamura with the intention of visiting her parents and spending time happily. However, on their way back after seeing her parents, an unexpected spark ignited inside the three-wheeler. As the suspicion simmering in her mind about her husband's behavior turned into words, a heated argument erupted between the two. Unable to bear the anger and pain, she threatened to jump out of the vehicle and, without giving her husband a chance to even think, suddenly jumped onto the main road from the moving three-wheeler.

The husband immediately took his seriously injured wife to Panamura Hospital. As her condition was extremely critical, she was transferred to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle, where she fought a battle between life and death for several days before passing away the day before yesterday. The deceased Dilhara was a mother of one child. Regarding this tragedy, the husband of the deceased woman has currently been arrested by Panamura Police. 

According to his statements, his wife initiated an argument due to an unfair suspicion she harbored about another woman with whom he had no connection. Whether there was actually an illicit affair or if it was merely suspicion remains a mystery. However, he has been arrested on charges of negligence for not attempting to stop the three-wheeler or save his wife's life in the face of her impulsive behavior, and for allowing a death to occur. The police will conduct further investigations after the post-mortem examination.

A single moment, fueled by baseless suspicion and anger, ultimately extinguished a young life on the road that can never be rekindled.
