The Colombo Crimes Division has revealed that among the members of organized crime gangs recently deported to this country from Dubai, the main shooter in the double murder that occurred near the Sirisara Uyana apartment complex in Borella is also present. This former soldier has been accused in connection with the brutal crime of shooting and killing two individuals who were at a playground in Sirisara Uyana, Borella, with a T-56 firearm, and seriously injuring three others.

A woman named Kumara Rathnam Indra Priyadarshani, a resident of Sirisara Uyana, Borella, who is said to have provided the T-56 firearm to the suspect for committing this murder, was also arrested by the police on the 25th of last month.




A group of twenty-one leading criminals, including Mahawatte Chamara and Vanathe Kudu Dumin, for whom Interpol had issued red notices, were deported to this country from Dubai on the 22nd of last month on two aircraft. This group, taken into custody by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport, was handed over separately to 4 police stations and 14 special investigation units for further questioning.

There, a suspect who had posed as a person named Dilshan Sugath Kumara, a resident of Bodhiraja Mawatha, Rajagiriya, was handed over to the Nugegoda Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau, and during preliminary questioning, all the information he provided was revealed to be false. Police investigations have confirmed that he is not a resident of the Rajagiriya area, and his true identity is Raveendra Rajith Suriyaarachchi, alias 'Ravi', a resident of Opata, Banagala, Mahena area.




Following the double murder in Borella, this suspect obtained a national identity card with false information, and then obtained a fake passport under the name Dilshan Sugath Kumara with a Rajagiriya address. The police state that using these fake documents, about six months after the murder, specifically last February, he fled to Dubai.

Current investigations are also revealing that this suspect received the cooperation and patronage of several officials from relevant state institutions to prepare the national identity card and passport based on false information. The police have taken steps to obtain a 90-day detention order under the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act against this brutal shooter, who is currently 33 years old, and to conduct extensive investigations.
