A three-year-old child met an unfortunate fate after being trapped under the body of his father who fell from the attic.

A deeply tragic incident has been reported from the Pihilladeniya area of Adiyakadawatha, Naranwita, Gampola, where a three-year-old child died after being crushed under the body of his father who fell from a loft in their house. The unfortunate child who passed away has been identified as a young boy named Mohamed Ayad.

Mohamed Stika Sajin Ali, the child's father, who sustained serious injuries in the accident, is currently admitted to the Gampola Teaching Hospital and receiving treatment.

Police investigations have revealed that the father resides next to his ancestral home. The previous morning, he had gone to the ancestral home to retrieve a water hose needed to wash his motorcycle. Since the water hose was placed on the house's loft, he climbed up using a ladder to get it and placed his foot on a plank on the loft. At that moment, the plank suddenly broke, causing him to fall. His body then landed on the small child who was standing below him.

Evidence has confirmed that the child, who was playing in the yard at the time of the accident, saw his father entering the house and followed him. Due to the weight of the father, who had a somewhat heavy build, the child fell face down, and there was severe bleeding from his nose and mouth. Local residents immediately rushed the father and child to the Gampola Teaching Hospital in a three-wheeler, but doctors confirmed that the small child had already passed away by then. Mediwaka, and officers from the Crime Scene Investigation Unit of the Gampola Police jointly conducted further investigations into the incident, and arrangements were made for the post-mortem examination of the body at the Gampola Teaching Hospital.
