A person's death is not relevant to politics, is it? - Harsha de Silva

Member of Parliament Harsha de Silva has commented on the politicization of Ranga Rajapaksa's death these days.

"One should be given enough time to bear the grief. Don't unnecessarily stir it up. Various psychological problems. Everyone knows that the Treasury Secretary and Central Bank officials appeared before the Finance Committee. Ultimately, we are not the Criminal Investigation Department.

So now everyone has accepted that a crime has occurred here. Two and a half million US dollars have been stolen from it. It's not something new for them to say that it has been stolen. Catching the thief is the role of those who catch thieves. Who catches thieves? The police and the Criminal Investigation Department do that. They will gather information, right?

But that's not our role. A person's death is not related to politics, is it? It's not related to the Finance Committee. The Criminal Investigation Department will investigate it. A person has died, right? The police or the relevant departments will handle that.

I don't like it when it comes to such sensitive matters... The family should at least be given enough time to cope with it."
