Jennifer Rojek, wife of American Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, recently sparked a major controversy by attending the White House Correspondents' Association annual dinner wearing a dress suspected to be from a Chinese brand. Her choice of a dress believed to be a Chinese product for this official event, attended by high-ranking officials of American President Donald Trump's administration, has generated significant discussion online.

Particular attention has been drawn to this incident, especially given that the Defense Secretary openly holds a hostile stance towards China.

According to 'The Guardian' newspaper, Jennifer Rojek attended the event held at the Hilton Hotel in Washington D.C. on the 25th with her husband, wearing a well-fitting, shimmering pink gown. The dress is said to be very similar to a product from the Chinese fast-fashion brand 'SHEIN'. The report further states that the dress is sold for $42 (approximately 62,000 Korean Won) on the 'SHEIN' online store, and can be purchased for about half that price through 'Temu', a Chinese e-commerce platform.

Pete Hegseth consistently advocates for the 'America First' policy and maintains a strong anti-China stance, which has led to severe criticism of his wife's choice. 'The Guardian' points out that many expect Jennifer, a former executive producer at Fox News, a media network promoting conservative ideologies, to share her husband's political views. Meanwhile, fashion social media activist Ella Devi posted on her 'X' account, sarcastically stating that it was no joke for the Defense Secretary's wife to wear a Temu dress to the White House dinner. In addition to that post, which garnered over 6 million views, the online fashion media 'Diet Prada' also highlighted that despite their political camp promoting a nationalist ideology, she chose an inexpensive foreign dress.

Nevertheless, opinions have also been expressed that choosing a reasonably priced brand instead of expensive luxury clothing should not be criticized. Conservative political activist Laura Loomer defended Jennifer, stating that she looked very elegant in the dress. She further emphasized that it is ridiculous for leftists, who in the past attacked the wealthy, to now accuse someone of not buying a $10,000 dress for a single wear.
