University student dies in clash at Homagama hotel party

A nineteen-year-old youth has been murdered during a party held at a hotel located on Moragahahena Road, which falls under the Homagama Police Division, due to a clash between two groups of students. This unfortunate incident was reported on the night of April 09, and the youth who lost his life was a resident of Nikadalupotha, Wellawa area.

A group of students from a private university located in the Homagama area had organized this party within the hotel premises. Police investigations have now revealed that this death occurred due to a serious assault that resulted from an argument between a group of people escalating during the party. These initial investigations were launched based on information received by the Homagama Police that a person had died inside the said hotel.

In connection with this murder, five suspected students, who are said to be studying at the same private university, have already been arrested by the police. The magisterial inquiry regarding the deceased youth's body is scheduled to be conducted, and further investigations into the incident are being continued by the Homagama Police.
