US President Donald Trump has warned Iran that if an agreement is not reached within the next 48 hours, he will launch severe attacks on Iran's energy and transportation infrastructure, forcing Iran to allow ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump, using obscene language on his 'Truth Social' account, stated that Tuesday would be a "power plants and bridges day" for Iran, and that Iran would have to live in hell.
In response to this threat, Iranian Central Military Commander General Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi called it a helpless and foolish act, counter-threatening that the gates of hell would open for America as well. Meanwhile, former International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Mohamed ElBaradei urged Gulf regional countries to intervene to stop Trump's arbitrary actions and save the region from becoming engulfed in flames.US Special Operations Forces have successfully rescued the second missing crew member, a colonel, from the American F-15E fighter jet shot down over Iran last Friday. The first pilot was rescued on Friday itself, and this second operation took place on Saturday night in a mountainous region of Iran. The US President confirmed that the officer was safely rescued without any harm, and no American troops were killed or injured in the process. According to The New York Times, during this rescue operation, which involved hundreds of troops and numerous aircraft, American fighter jets bombed an Iranian military convoy and engaged in heavy gunfire. However, according to Tasnim News Agency, five Iranians were killed in American-Israeli attacks during these rescue operations conducted in Iran's southwestern Kohgiluyeh region. The CIA has launched a disinformation campaign to mislead Iranian forces, and Reaper drones were also used to protect the pilot. Trump has called a special press conference at 1:00 PM on Monday in the Oval Office to brief on this operation. Meanwhile, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps claims to have destroyed an American aircraft in the Isfahan region, but the Associated Press reported that the US military itself blew up two of its transport aircraft due to a technical malfunction. Furthermore, on Friday afternoon, American and Israeli fighter jets bombed several strategic locations in Tehran, including Shahid Beheshti University, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also confirmed attacks on Iran's Mahshahr petrochemical zone.
Iran has also intensified its attacks on Gulf countries. On Sunday morning, Iranian drone attacks on Kuwait's National Petroleum Corporation, National Oil Company, and petrochemical plants caused fires and significant material damage, with two electricity and water treatment plants also severely damaged. Additionally, a fire broke out in a complex in Kuwait's Shuwaikh oil sector. Since February 28, Bahraini air defense systems have destroyed 466 Iranian drones and 188 missiles, and a fire at a unit of the Gulf Petrochemical Company in Bahrain has now been brought under control. The UAE Ministry of Defense states that its air defense systems are successfully responding to drone and missile threats. Operations at the Borouge factory in Abu Dhabi have also been temporarily halted due to fires caused by falling missile debris. Meanwhile, the South Korean Finance Minister met with Gulf ambassadors and urged them to ensure the security of energy supplies and ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has held discussions with representatives from the US, Iran, Turkey, and Pakistan to de-escalate the war situation in the Middle East. However, the World Food Programme and other international aid organizations warn that these conflicts have severely disrupted the global food and medicine supply chain, with essential aid shipments to countries like Sudan and Somalia being stranded in places like Dubai and India.
Israel's attacks targeting Lebanon and the Gaza Strip are also ongoing. An Israeli airstrike on the Jnah area of South Beirut killed four people and injured 39, while an attack on the Kfar Hatta area in Southern Lebanon killed seven people, including a four-year-old girl. The Israeli army warned residents of the Ghobeiry area in Beirut to evacuate immediately before launching attacks. Israel also warned Kfar Hatta residents via social media to evacuate the area immediately. According to data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, since March 2, 1,422 people have died, over 4,130 have been injured, and more than a million people have been displaced in Lebanon. In the past 24 hours alone, 54 people have died in Lebanon due to Israeli attacks. Hezbollah has also launched missile attacks towards northern Israel, which are reported to have been destroyed by Israeli defense systems. Furthermore, Hezbollah claims to have hit an Israeli warship 68 nautical miles off the Lebanese coast with a naval cruise missile. The Masnaa border crossing between Syria and Lebanon has also been evacuated due to Israeli attack threats. Meanwhile, the Gaza Strip's Ministry of Health states that since October 7, 2023, 72,292 Palestinians have been killed and 172,073 injured. Even after the ceasefire implemented in October 2025, 716 Palestinians have died from Israeli attacks, and another four were killed in an attack on Jaffa Street in Gaza City on Sunday.
