
The Department of Meteorology states that there is a possibility of rain or thundershowers in several parts of the island after 2:00 PM today. Accordingly, this rainy condition is expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western provinces, as well as in several places in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Mannar districts.
However, mainly dry weather will affect the other parts of the island.The department further states that a misty condition can be expected in some areas of the Ampara district, in addition to the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, during the early morning hours. Furthermore, a special announcement has been made to the public to be vigilant about temporary strong winds and lightning hazards that may occur during thundershowers, and to take necessary precautionary measures to protect themselves.
As the sun is visibly moving northwards these days, it is stated that the sun will be directly above Sri Lanka from April 05 to April 15. Accordingly, today (09) at 12:12 PM, the sun is expected to be directly overhead in the areas of Chilaw, Bingiriya, Halmillawewa, Panduwasnuwara, Gokaralla, Kawudupelalla, Koppaweli, and Kirankulam.
