The results of the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination held in 2025 were released last night (March 31) by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka. Commissioner General of Examinations A.

Indika Kumari Liyanage stated that all applicants can check their results by visiting the official websites www.doenets.lk or www.results.exams.gov.lk.According to the results of this year's examination, information regarding the students who secured the first places in the island from the main subject streams has now been confirmed. Accordingly,
Dilan Karunaratne of Royal College, Colombo, secured the first place in the Biology stream, while Theiventhiran Thirukkumaran from Kilinochchi District succeeded in becoming the island's first in the Mathematics (Physical Science) stream.
Mohamed Subaideen Mohamed Farthan of Kattankudy Central College, Batticaloa, became the island's first in the Commerce stream, and Achintha Rathnayake of Wayamba Royal College, Kurunegala, secured the first place in the Arts stream.
Additionally, Eshani Manoda of Bandaranayake Central College, Veyangoda, succeeded in securing the first place in the island in the Bio-System Technology stream.
The Commissioner General of Examinations further revealed that according to this year's Advanced Level results, 8,300 candidates have succeeded in obtaining three excellent passes (3 As). It has been confirmed that these top achievers include 7,477 school candidates and 823 private candidates.
A total of 281,810 candidates, comprising 221,413 school candidates and 60,397 private candidates, sat for the 2025 Advanced Level Examination held at 2,362 examination centers island-wide. Of these, 176,527 students, or 62.64%, have qualified to apply for university admission. The Department of Examinations' announcement states that this qualified group for universities includes 146,405 school candidates and 30,122 private candidates. Furthermore, the results of 111 applicants have been suspended due to various reasons.
From April 01, 2026, all school and private candidates have been provided with facilities to download their Result Schedule by visiting the link https://onlineexams.gov.lk/eic and entering their National Identity Card number. Separate links have also been introduced for principals and zonal education directors to download result sheets, and printed result sheets will be sent to schools later. The Department of Examinations states that applications for re-scrutiny of results can be submitted through the aforementioned website link from April 06, 2026, to April 22, 2026.
