Sports teacher from a famous school arrested for drug trafficking

Three individuals connected to a drug network of an underworld leader hiding in Dubai have been arrested by the police with a stock of heroin. A senior police officer stated that a sports teacher from a government school and a soldier who deserted the army were arrested in the Dankotuwa area, and another nineteen-year-old youth was arrested in the Kochchikade area of Negombo.

Officers from the Chilaw Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau inspected a white car yesterday (01) in the Katukenda area of Dankotuwa, and during the inspection, the suspect sports teacher, who was transporting 8 grams and 130 milligrams of heroin, was apprehended. This thirty-one-year-old individual, a resident of Nikaweratiya, has been identified as an employee of a well-known government school in the Panduwasnuwara area, and the car he used has also been taken into police custody.

Furthermore, in another raid conducted in the Katukenda area, the former army soldier who was in possession of twenty grams and two hundred milligrams of heroin was also arrested by the same team of criminal investigation officers. Police have revealed information that he was involved in distributing drugs in several surrounding areas, including Kuliyapitiya, and this thirty-seven-year-old suspect is a resident of Nikaweratiya, Mahawa, Karambe area.

It has been confirmed that the former army soldier arrested in Dankotuwa and the nineteen-year-old youth arrested in Kochchikade are members of the same drug network. According to the police, they were led by the underworld gang leader R.A. Saman Kumara, known by the alias 'Ada', a resident of Dankotuwa who has currently fled to Dubai, and his wife.
