The 26-year-old Chinese suspect was arrested while staying at a hotel located on Sir Anagarika Dharmapala Mawatha, Kollupitiya. At the time of his arrest, 2 grams and 280 milligrams of 'Ice' drug and three cameras were taken into police custody from his possession. The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court today (06).
This murder incident occurred on March 23rd at the 'Kent Residence,' a four-story apartment complex located on Peiris Mawatha, Kalubowila, Kohuwala. A 28-year-old Chinese woman named Liwa Wiyan, who was residing there on a rental basis, was murdered in this manner. Another Chinese national, suspected to be her current boyfriend, who was with her at the time, also sustained serious stab injuries.
The suspect, Wang Huin, who committed the crime, is the former boyfriend of the murdered woman. Police investigations have revealed that he carried out this act of revenge due to a dispute arising from a love triangle. With the sole intention of committing the murder, he rented a house adjacent to the victim's residence in the same apartment complex, stayed there for several days, and meticulously planned and executed the crime before fleeing. Kohuwala Police are conducting further extensive investigations into the incident.
