US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated at a Pentagon press conference that the United States is currently achieving a decisive and ruthless victory. He further emphasized that although the operation has only been four days long, the US is prepared to spend any amount of time necessary to ensure its success, as President Trump mentioned.
Hegseth revealed here that US forces torpedoed and sank an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean, which was believed to be safely navigating international waters. Although the Defense Secretary did not disclose the name of the vessel, the Sri Lanka Navy had previously reported that the Iranian ship 'IRIS Dena', which was sailing in the Indian Ocean, had sunk and approximately 140 people on board were missing.
Stating that this conflict was never intended to be a battle between two equal parties, he explained that America is continuously attacking Iran at a moment when Iran is crippled. The Defense Secretary warned that this is merely the beginning, and a series of even larger attacks are expected in the future.
Hegseth stated that the results achieved over the past four days are incredible and historic, and that the Iranian regime itself knows it is now completely destroyed. He further declared that operations to pursue and destroy Iranian military power and to psychologically break them have already begun, and that until the United States and Israel decide the war is over, Iranian leaders will only see American and Israeli warplanes in the skies above.
