Horana Chief Magistrate Nalaka Ilangakoon ordered two suspects, accused of several serious crimes including severing a prison officer's hand and robbing a motorcycle, to be further remanded until March 13. The remanded individuals are a twenty-two-year-old youth named Aluthge Chathura Dulanga and a thirty-six-year-old man named Kulappu Thanthrige Dilan Madushan.

These suspects, who were previously produced in court on the 24th of this month and remanded until the 28th, were again brought before the court on that day. It was revealed that they had robbed money, mobile phones, and three motorcycles. Additionally, the police informed the court that these individuals have been involved in drug use and drug trafficking for a long time. At the time of their arrest, three stolen motorcycles valued at fifteen lakh rupees each, two machetes used for crimes, and 12,300 grams of heroin were found in their possession.

Attorney Thushara Gunaratne, appearing for the suspects, stated that his clients had been inhumanly assaulted inside the prison. He pointed out that due to these assaults, both of their limbs were broken and they had sustained severe head injuries. Furthermore, the attorney accused that the suspects were tortured by being thrown into sewage drains and informed the court that a complaint regarding this had been lodged with the Human Rights Commission.

Taking these facts into consideration, the Chief Magistrate ordered an urgent report from the Prison Superintendent regarding the incident. Furthermore, prison officials were instructed to immediately present the suspects to a judicial medical officer and obtain the relevant medical reports. Police Sergeant Geekiyanage presented facts to the court on behalf of Horana Police, and the case is scheduled to be called again on March 13.
