The price of bakery items, including bread, has increased by Rs. 10.

The Bakery Owners' Association has decided to increase the price of a 450g standard loaf of bread by 10 rupees, effective from midnight today.

According to the association's announcement, with this new price revision, the previous price will change, and the new price of a 450g loaf of bread will be recorded as 130 rupees.

In addition to bread, this price increase will apply equally to all other bakery products, and accordingly, the prices of other bakery food items will also increase by 10 rupees, the relevant announcement further states.

Bakery owners point out that due to the recent increase in fuel prices, both production and distribution costs in their industry have rapidly increased, and this unfavorable situation was the main factor influencing this decision.

As bread is consumed daily as a staple food by the general public across the island, it is expected that this sudden price increase will have a direct impact on the economy of consumers.
