A photograph depicting emergency rescue teams finding the body of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei trapped among debris is currently circulating widely on the internet, being presented as real. Iranian state media had previously announced that Khamenei died last Saturday due to American and Israeli airstrikes.
Subsequently, claiming it shows the moment his body was found trapped under the debris, the photograph has been publicized on social media. However, this is not a real photograph, and it has now been confirmed by a Google AI detection tool that it was created using artificial intelligence (AI). Google's tool, named 'SynthID', operates by examining hidden watermarks embedded within content generated by the company's AI models.
After analyzing two different versions of this photograph, the detection tool released its report. Accordingly, it concluded that the photograph can be confirmed with "very high" confidence to be synthetic media, created using a Google AI tool.
