Police investigate to find driver who absconded with vehicle after fueling

Boralesgamuwa Police state that a driver has fled with a luxury car worth over eighty lakhs rupees and a bank card belonging to a seventy-four-year-old retired bank official residing in the Boralesgamuwa area. The driver involved in this incident is a resident of Kottawa, who had been working reliably under the said bank official intermittently for about two years.




Due to the prevailing fuel shortage in the country, the retired official handed over his car and an ATM card for payment to his driver on the sixteenth, instructing him to get fuel for the car and return. Subsequently, the bank official also received a text message on his mobile phone indicating that the car had been refueled for nine thousand rupees at a petrol station in the Kottawa area.

As the driver did not return with the car even after several hours had passed since getting the fuel, the retired bank official officially lodged a complaint with the Boralesgamuwa Police on the seventeenth. In connection with this incident, a special police team has already commenced extensive investigations through several avenues, acting on the instructions of Boralesgamuwa Police Station OIC, Chief Police Inspector Sumedha Wimala Gunaratne.
