Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senavi, stated today (16) at a special media briefing that both parties have agreed to publish a joint New Year 'Nakath Seettuwa' (auspicious times sheet).
Accordingly, the Minister stated that Indika Epa Senaviratne, author of Epa Panchanga Lith, Chamath Kothalawala, author of Thirasara Panchanga Lith, and members of the alternative Nakath group reached this final agreement during discussions held with him.
The Minister also mentioned that the 'Nakath Seettuwa' prepared in this manner would be printed and distributed to the public as the official state 'Nakath Seettuwa'.
This 'Nakath Seettuwa' issue was politicized, and an alternative 'Nakath Seettuwa' named 'Sarvajana Nakath Seettuwa' was recently introduced by a group led by Member of Parliament Dilith Jayaweera. However, such an alternative is no longer necessary.
