Veteran journalist Mr. Sajeeva Wijeveera, who left an indelible mark in the Sri Lankan media field for decades, passed away on the afternoon of (07) while receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit of Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, Galle. Mr. Wijeveera, who had been suffering from a kidney ailment for some time, was fifty-one (51) years old at the time of his demise and was the father of two beloved children.




He played a significant role in his professional life as an Executive Program Producer at Sirasa TV, where he pioneered in educating audiences on environmental conservation through the popular program "A Minute for the Environment" that was broadcast at the time. Subsequently, he also ventured into print journalism, representing several media platforms including Lankadeepa, and was engaged in compiling insightful and research-based articles for readers on environmental, wildlife, and archaeological matters.

Not only as a newspaper feature writer and environmental journalist, but he also skillfully demonstrated his talents as a gifted environmental photographer. The remains of the late Mr. Sajeeva Wijeveera are currently placed at his residence in Hapugala, and the final rites are scheduled to take place tomorrow at 6 PM at the Dadalla Public Crematorium.
