Employee dies after head gets stuck in printing machine

Piliyandala Police report the unfortunate death of a machine operator who worked at a private printing press in the Piliyandala, Gorakapitiya area, after being caught in a printing machine. The victim of this tragic incident is a twenty-seven-year-old married youth named Milinda Madusanka Wijesinghe, a resident of Nissanka Mawatha, Pallegama, Deniyaya.




According to police investigations, at the time of the accident, the deceased person was engaged in his daily duties related to the printing machine, along with another employee.

To inspect a sudden technical fault that occurred in the machine, the other employee had leaned his head towards it. The police confirm that at the same time, the deceased youth also leaned his head into the machine from the opposite direction, and this was clearly recorded in the security camera system installed at the printing press.




As soon as he leaned his head towards the machine, the printing machine suddenly and unexpectedly activated automatically. The youth's head, which was inside the machine, got trapped there, and investigations further revealed that he was then thrown aside.
