The main suspect involved in the theft of a gold bracelet worth approximately four hundred thousand rupees from the house of a businesswoman residing in the Manana area of Poruwadanda, Horana, and his sister who aided and abetted the crime, have been arrested by the Horana Headquarters Police.




According to police investigations, the suspect entered the house through a window when the businesswoman was not at home and committed the theft. Those arrested are a 33-year-old unmarried man who is severely addicted to drug use, and his 34-year-old sister.

Following an extensive investigation conducted through CCTV security camera footage, the police managed to apprehend the suspects. Accordingly, the suspects were taken into police custody along with the gold bracelet when the suspect's sister went to a pawn shop in the Ingiriya area to pawn the said gold bracelet.




The police are conducting further investigations to ascertain whether the arrested suspect brother and sister have been involved in similar crimes before, and arrangements have been made to present the two suspects before the Horana Magistrate's Court.

These investigations are being carried out under the guidance of Horana Headquarters Police Inspector Ranga Perera, led by Crime Division OIC Police Inspector Rasika Prasad. Sub-Inspector Gurusinghe, Police Sergeant Janaka (14934), Police Constables Saman (78834) and Lahiru (13022), as well as Woman Police Constable Wigaba (8863) are contributing to this effort.
