The Ministry of Digital Economy has decided to increase the fuel quota for consumers who obtain fuel under non-vehicular categories starting next week.

Ministry consultant Sumudu Ratnayake states that necessary steps are currently being taken to introduce a new QR code system for machinery used for agricultural activities, fishing vessels, and electricity generators under this new program. He revealed this while participating in a press conference held last Thursday (26).

Accordingly, relevant consumers will be able to fulfill their fuel needs by presenting their QR code at fuel stations. The consultant further stated that the complete guidelines and official procedure related to this process will be clearly communicated to the public next Monday.

Due to the current warlike and crisis situation in the Middle East, the global fuel supply has been severely affected, and as a result, restrictions on fuel issuance through a QR system have been imposed in Sri Lanka with the aim of streamlining fuel distribution.
