Update: Lawyer Buddhika Mallawarachchi has been killed at Akuregoda

Police have identified one of the two individuals killed in a brutal shooting inside the parking lot of a Keells Supermarket in the Thalangama, Akuregoda area, as lawyer Buddhika Mallawaarachchi. It is reported that at the time of the shooting, the two victims were inside their motor vehicle and succumbed to their severe injuries at the scene.

Police teams conducting preliminary investigations into the incident suspect that a T-56 automatic firearm was used for the murder. Sources familiar with his professional background confirm that the deceased, Mr. Buddhika Mallawaarachchi, primarily practiced his legal profession at the Colombo High Court.

Security forces have not yet officially identified the other woman who died in the attack. Thalangama Police have now launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the motive behind this double murder and to identify the suspects involved.
