Kaduwela Magistrate Aruna Indrajith Buddadasa today (18) ordered the further remand of the two brothers arrested in connection with the shooting death of a lawyer and his wife in the Talangama, Akuregoda area, until March 04.

When these suspects were presented before the magistrate again today, nearly fifty lawyers appeared in court on behalf of the aggrieved party, but it was a notable incident that no lawyer appeared for the suspects today either.

During the proceedings, the magistrate inquired from the suspects if they had anything to say to the court, and they informed that they wished to make a statement.

Granting permission for the suspects' request, the magistrate arranged for them to be summoned to the magistrate's official chamber to record the relevant statement.

During extensive investigations conducted by the Western Province South Divisional Criminal Division regarding this murder, these two brothers were arrested in the Kottawa area on the charge of transporting firearms for the killers to shoot.

Based on information revealed during lengthy interrogations of these individuals, the suspect known by the alias 'Polgasowita Dila' was also taken into police custody yesterday afternoon in the Polgasowita area.
