The incident received special attention because Piumi's son was in the video.

However, a new discussion arose, stating 'Piumi's boy is innocent, he is preventing the attack.' But now a second video has been released, which is about a helmet attack. That's a different story.

This incident occurred about two months ago. The reason for this assault was an incident where a group of friends of the assaulted young man had previously kicked the motorcycle of the young man who carried out the assault. The assault took place near a garage at Ambagah Junction in Rajagiriya. Following this incident, a video showing the assault was posted on TikTok. However, there is also a video of Piumi Hansamali's son hitting with a helmet before the shovel attack, but the shovel attack video was the one that circulated on social media. It is not Piumi Hansamali's son who is hitting with the shovel, but someone else. It also shows Piumi's son trying to prevent the assault at that moment.

 However, the helmet attack was carried out by Piumi's son. “You are from Devala Road, aren't you? I will teach you a good lesson,” said Mrs. R.V.M. Rajamanthri, the mother of the assaulted young man, regarding the assault. She also stated that the moment of the assault was filmed by the side of the young man who carried out the assault.

‘I can't bear to watch my child being beaten. Boys fight and quarrel during their youth. That's what I thought. I didn't know it was this serious. If I had known, my heart would have burst and I would have died the moment I first found out.” According to reports, only the less serious video of the incident was released on social media, but the serious video had been hidden. 

“They videoed that beating. They kept it hidden and then released it. Why are these children doing this? They made it impossible for my child to walk on the street. They made it impossible for me to do my job. Honestly, I am very sad, even though I haven't told anyone,” 
The mother of the assaulted young man has stated. 

In recent days, a new discussion arose on social media, claiming that Piumi Hansamali's son was innocent in the shovel attack video, suggesting that Piumi's son was being unfairly blamed. However, another video that was hidden has now been released, which shows Piumi's son hitting with a helmet.
