Viraj Dhanusha Vithanage, a popular teledrama and film actor, has been arrested by Mattegoda Police for possessing cocaine. The arrest was made during a sudden search conducted while he was staying in a rented boarding room near Piliyandala town, where 10 milligrams of cocaine were taken into police custody from his possession.
The 26-year-old suspect, who was thus arrested by the police, is a resident of the Anuradhapura area. He entered the art field with the film 'A Level', which was screened in 2017, and gained immense popularity among audiences through the character 'Sudda' he played in the teledrama 'Nadagamkarayo'. In addition, it is reported that several other suspects were also arrested during the raid along with this actor, who has contributed his acting skills to numerous teledramas such as Jora, Liya, Paata Kurullo, and Bakery Gedara.
Under the direct instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police Ashoka Gunasekara, in charge of the Mount Lavinia Division, and the direction of Assistant Superintendent of Police M.D.D. Nilanga, a team of officers including Mattegoda Police OIC Police Inspector Indika Kumara carried out this drug raid. The arrested suspect actor and the group are scheduled to be produced before the Kottawa Magistrate's Court for further legal action.
