The Kelaniya Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau has succeeded in arresting a Thai national and a local drug trafficker with a stock of heroin worth nearly 70 million rupees, belonging to a person named "Randil" who operates the drug network in this country from Dubai.
Police have identified the main suspect, who was staying in a two-story house in Kiribathgoda obtained on a monthly rent of one hundred and fifty thousand rupees, as a 34-year-old resident of Thambuththegama. During a raid and search of the said house, 3 kilograms and 18 grams of heroin were found in the suspect's possession, and a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and a digital scale used for the trafficking were also taken into police custody.
Further investigations have revealed that Randil, who is in Dubai, sent this consignment of drugs to the country through the arrested 32-year-old Thai national. The foreign national, who was staying at a hotel in Kadawatha, handed over the heroin consignment he brought to the suspect in Kiribathgoda, and it has been revealed that he has been carrying out this trafficking operation by placing drugs at various locations since last August, as per Randil's instructions.
Following the arrest of the local trafficker on the night of the 3rd, Randil, who is in Dubai, called the Thai national by phone and instructed him to immediately flee the location. Accordingly, the foreign national left the Kadawatha area and was hiding in a hotel in Seeduwa when he was arrested during an operation carried out by a police team, and steps were taken to present the suspects to the court.
