The tractor fell into the Maduru Oya ZD canal, and the driver's life was narrowly saved (photos)

A serious accident occurred yesterday (26) morning when a tractor overturned from the Weheragama area into the Maduru Oya ZD canal in Polonnaruwa. This tractor, along with its trailer, veered off the road and fell into the canal while traveling from Medagama towards Weheragama.

At that moment, while attempting to give way to a small lorry coming from the opposite direction, the driver lost control of the tractor, causing it to overturn towards the canal. The driver who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident miraculously survived, and it is reported that he did not sustain any serious injuries. 

Residents say that the tractor sustained significant damage due to this accident. Residents have complained that the narrowness of the road and the lack of a safety fence towards the canal embankment have been major factors contributing to such accidents.
