The London Trip Case: Saman Missing - Ranil to Court

Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe arrived at the Fort Magistrate's Court a short while ago to present facts regarding a case filed under the Public Property Act. This complaint is being heard based on allegations that Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe misused government funds during his tenure as President, by traveling to London to attend a graduation ceremony of his wife, Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe.

According to the investigations being carried out regarding this incident, police investigations have already been initiated to arrest Mr. Saman Ekanayake, who served as the former President's secretary. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken this step based on the instructions given by the Attorney General regarding this alleged trip that occurred during an official visit of the former President.

Although a special police team visited Mr. Saman Ekanayake's residence yesterday (27) to arrest him, the Police Media Division reports that he was not at home at the time. Although Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers launched operations in several locations where the suspect secretary is believed to frequent, no definite information about him has been revealed so far.

However, the police express confidence that the suspect will surrender to the court or appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) soon.
