Scientific tests have confirmed that the controversial rock that rolled near the Sri Muththu Mari Amman Kovil, located in the lower part of Gallanthenna in Deltota Estate, following the recent Ditwa cyclone, is an ordinary rock with no value. After the rock rolled down, its blue appearance led to widespread speculation in the area that it was a very valuable gem.

With this incident being reported on land belonging to the Janatha Estates Development Board, the attention of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority was drawn to it. Accordingly, a team of officials, including Mr. P.D.A.P. Subasinghe from the Naula office, visited the site, conducted preliminary investigations, and arranged to obtain rock samples for further investigations.

Subsequent detailed examinations conducted after sending the obtained samples to the main laboratory of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority in Colombo revealed that it is merely an ordinary rock with no financial or gemological value.

After the relevant laboratory report confirmed this, the Galaha Police were informed in writing yesterday evening. With this official notification, the Galaha Police are now taking steps to report the matter to the Kandy Magistrate's Court and remove the police checkpoints and security that had been provided to the site until now.
