Assistant Superintendent of Police Rohan Olugala has been appointed as the new Director of the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Unit. At the time of this appointment, made subject to the approval of the National Police Commission, he was serving as the Director of the Western Province North (Peliyagoda) Crimes Division.
Mr. Olugala is an experienced officer who has demonstrated exceptional skills in suppressing organized criminals and drug traffickers, having led numerous successful operations both domestically and internationally. His contribution to apprehending local criminals hiding in foreign countries is particularly noteworthy.
Mr. Rohan Olugala also led the successful operation to arrest Ishara Sewwandi, considered a powerful underworld figure hiding in Nepal, and others recently. Furthermore, he was directly involved in the process of bringing back organized criminals like Kehelbadhdara Padme and Commando Salintha, who were residing abroad, to Sri Lanka.
With this new appointment, it is expected that the raids and anti-corruption activities carried out by the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Unit will be conducted more systematically.
