Mother of 16-year-old girl injured in Kalubowila shooting has underworld connections

Two unknown individuals who arrived on a motorcycle fired shots at a house located in the Bodhiyawatta area, Saranankara Road, Kalubowila, within the Kohuwala police division, last Tuesday (30) night, and then fled. Due to this shooting, a 16-year-old female student who was in the house was injured and admitted to Kalubowila Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the Kohuwala police regarding the incident have revealed that the real target of the shooters was not the injured student, but her mother.

Information has been revealed that the mother of the injured girl is a close associate of an underworld gang member named "Badowita Asanka", and the police suspect that she had spied to facilitate the shooting and killing of a henchman of "Dubai Avishka" in the Nugegoda area on the 22nd of last month.

Furthermore, investigating officers have revealed that the said woman has also provided information related to drug trafficking belonging to "Dubai Avishka" to a rival underworld member named "Badowita Asanka", and the Kohuwala police are conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
