The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) issued a statement strongly condemning the military invasion carried out by the United States against Venezuela, an independent and sovereign state, as well as the abduction of democratically elected President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.

The JVP emphasized that, like any other free and sovereign state, the sovereign power to determine Venezuela's future and the country's leadership rests with its people.

The party also pointed out that powerful nations have no right to violate these principles. The JVP emphasized that modern society and governance methods should be civilized, and democracy, human rights, and the sovereignty of states should be considered universally accepted principles.

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna also stated that military invasions and aggressions carried out against sovereign states in violation of these principles cannot be justified under any circumstances.

Accordingly, the JVP stated that it believes the forced military invasion carried out by the United States against Venezuela will not receive anyone's approval.

Furthermore, the statement added that the JVP strongly condemns the military invasion carried out by the United States against Venezuela and stands for Venezuela's sovereignty and independence.
