A group of women came and vandalized a resort after a parking problem

A dispute over parking escalated, leading to a group, including three women, breaking into a holiday resort on St. James Street, Modara, damaging property and assaulting people. Eight individuals, including three women, have been arrested by Modara Police in connection with this unruly behavior and assault.

The arrested individuals are residents of Modara Pansala Road area, Colombo 15, and the police have confirmed that they are engaged in the trade of religious items.




The conflict originated when a woman, who had come to a private educational institution near the said holiday resort, parked her car in a manner that obstructed the resort. Police investigations have revealed that after a heated discussion about this, the woman left the scene and returned around 11:30 PM with another group in a car and a three-wheeler to carry out the assault.

This group, armed with poles and clubs, forcibly entered the holiday resort and assaulted its owner, his lawyer son, and the staff, causing severe damage to the building's property. During the assault, the police also recovered wallets belonging to the resort owner that had been stolen, and the car and three-wheeler used by the suspects have also been taken into police custody.




In addition to the suspects arrested in connection with the incident, investigations are underway to find other individuals involved in this assault and related evidence. Further investigations into the incident are being conducted under the instructions of Modara Police OIC, Chief Police Inspector R.M.P. Rathnayake.
