The Ministry of Public Security has taken steps to provide a permanent solution to the official housing problem faced by police officers serving in the Western Province, especially those stationed in Colombo city. The Ministry aims to make their service more efficient by providing accommodation facilities with all necessary amenities to officers serving in Colombo and its suburbs.
To achieve this objective, the 'Harbour View Residencies' housing complex, constructed by the Urban Development Authority (UDA) on Cyril C. Perera Mawatha, Colombo 13, has been selected. This modern fourteen-story housing complex has a total of 452 housing units, of which 350 units are to be purchased for the Sri Lanka Police.
This housing complex, initially built targeting officers of state and semi-government institutions, is planned to include facilities that meet the specific needs of police officers. Furthermore, Cabinet approval has been granted for the Urban Development Authority to construct adequate parking facilities for the vehicles of officers residing in these houses.
