The World Bank has approved a $50 million project for Sri Lanka, targeting several areas including promoting innovation and investment in the digital sector, as well as modernizing government services.
A statement issued by the World Bank Group indicates that the primary objective of this project is to modernize government services, making them more efficient and easily accessible to the public. The statement further adds that this initiative will promote Sri Lanka's digital sector and help meet the needs of both the public and the business community.
Named the "Sri Lanka Digital Transformation Project," this initiative is expected to support central digital solutions, including an integrated online citizen services portal for government services, a secure system for data sharing across public institutions to enhance efficiency and transparency, a dedicated digital window for digital document storage, and a scalable platform to meet increasing demand.
