Shots Fired at Galle Prison as Inmates Attempt Escape

 Two remand prisoners at Galle Prison attempted to escape, and prison officials were forced to fire shots into the air to control the situation.

The Prison Department confirms that following the officials' warning shots into the air, the two frightened inmates abandoned their attempt to escape from the prison and surrendered back to prison officials.

However, it is further reported that the two inmates sustained minor injuries during the incident and arrangements have been made to present them to the prison doctor.
