Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has convened a special party leaders' meeting to address the disaster situation caused by Cyclone Ditwa, which affected Sri Lanka, and to discuss future steps.

It is reported that arrangements have been made to hold this meeting next Wednesday, December 03, at the political office located on Flower Road, Colombo, and all party leaders are expected to attend.

United National Party Chairman Vajira Abeywardena stated that based on the successful experience gained under the leadership of Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe in facing severe natural disasters that occurred in the country previously, the future course of action to be taken in the current situation will be decided at this meeting.

The Chairman also pointed out that the former President is expected to brief party leaders on the successful programs implemented during the flood disasters in 2003 and 2016, and in the post-flood periods.

Mr. Vajira Abeywardena further stated that this is the first time all political party leaders, both represented in Parliament and outside of it, have been called to the same table after such a severe disaster.
