A valuable collection of gold ornaments and a sum of money have been discovered amidst the debris by Sri Lanka Army troops engaged in clearing a house completely destroyed by a landslide in the Hanguranketha area.

This property was found by a team belonging to the 642 Infantry Battalion, stationed in the Hanguranketha area, while they were removing debris from the affected house.

The total value of the recovered property has been confirmed to be over 5 million rupees in gold ornaments and nearly 300,000 rupees in cash. After retrieving these valuable assets that were buried underground, Army officers took steps yesterday (16) to safely hand them over to their rightful owners under the witness and supervision of a state official.
