With the aim of providing swift relief to the people affected by Cyclone Ditwa, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa held a special discussion this morning (08) with Australian High Commissioner Matthew Duckworth at the Opposition Leader's office in Colombo.
During this meeting, a broad exchange of views took place between the two parties regarding the current situation in Sri Lanka, where the Opposition Leader explained how the recent disaster has affected the country. In particular, Mr. Sajith Premadasa drew the High Commissioner's attention to the collapse of local businesses, the disruption of normal public life, and the severe damage caused to numerous infrastructure facilities due to the cyclone.
The Opposition Leader requested the Australian High Commissioner to provide the necessary support for the reconstruction of damaged infrastructure and the restoration of the lives of displaced people.
Furthermore, the Opposition Leader gratefully recalled the humanitarian aid and relief services provided by the Australian government for Sri Lanka during this difficult time, and on behalf of all Sri Lankans, extended his gratitude to the Australian government and its people.
