The Commercial High Court has issued an enjoining order against M. Entertainment (M. Entertainment Pvt Ltd) preventing the dissemination of 9 highly popular songs sung by the late veteran vocalist Kalashuri Mohidin Beg on YouTube and other social media, and the transfer of their rights to third parties.

Mr. Mohidin Illiyas Beg, son of Mr. Mohidin Beg, had filed this lawsuit against the said company. According to the enjoining order issued by the court, the nine songs 'Sakala Sathama Bodhu Bathiyen', 'Minisamai Lowa Deviyan Wanné', 'Suwandé Mata Seethala Sulanga Pawa', 'Samma Sambudhu Wu', 'Mal Sugandhé Dam Sugandhé', 'Budungé Ama Dharmé', 'Ninda Prashansa', 'Sarawana Bawa' and 'Aneka Jathi Sansaré' are prohibited from being disseminated.

Lawyers representing the plaintiff party pointed out that the intellectual property rights related to the recordings and production of these songs legally belong to Mr. Mohidin Illiyas Beg. The lawyers emphasized before the court that the defendant company has violated these rights and that the intellectual property rights cannot be misused or sold to another party.

Attorney Sandun Senadhipathi appeared for the plaintiff in this case, acting on the instructions of Attorney Thilini Hewavitharana. After considering the submissions, the court has scheduled the case for recall on the 31st of this month.
