Today (30), the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division arrested Mr. Johan Fernando, son of former Minister Johnston Fernando. Police stated that he was arrested in the Ibbagama, Kumbukwewa area.
This arrest was made based on an investigation into charges including the criminal misuse of a lorry belonging to Lanka Sathosa and several other vehicles. Investigations revealed that the misuse of these vehicles occurred during the time Mr. Johnston Fernando served as the Minister of Trade and Cooperatives.
Furthermore, Mr. Johan Fernando has also been accused of misusing funds by claiming salaries and allowances while falsely stating he was a member of the ministerial staff. The Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division further stated that this arrest was made based on facts revealed during the preliminary investigations into the relevant incidents.
