Galle Roads Submerged by Torrential Rains

Several roads in Galle city have been submerged due to the torrential rains that lashed the city this afternoon (20).

It is reported that roads in areas such as Galle Main Street, Galle-Matara Main Road, Galle-Wakwella Road, Galle-Baddegama Main Road, Sarathukade Junction, Thalapitiya, Thanipolgaha, Dangedara, and Beligaha, as well as several roads within the tourist-attracting Galle Fort, have been submerged.

Commenting on the situation, residents allege that the obstruction of water drainage is due to improper maintenance of the drainage systems and unauthorized constructions on these drains.
