Due to the recent disaster situation in the Badulla District, steps have been taken to restore public transport services that were disrupted. Accordingly, Badulla Depot authorities state that bus services will resume on almost all roads deemed suitable for bus operation.
The disaster situation that affected the entire district had destroyed approximately 165 roads, including main thoroughfares. However, under the rapidly implemented reconstruction program, work on about 111 of these roads has now been completed, and authorities plan to operate bus services on all these reconstructed roads.
Meanwhile, the Road Development Authority states that reconstruction work is still ongoing on several other roads. Specifically, repair work continues on the Attampitiya - Welimada, Badulla - Springvalley, Madolsima - Metigahathenna, Passara - Namunukula, Galauda - Vasanagama, and Passara - Lunugala roads.
