The Galle District Deputy Inspector General of Police's office states that two inmates assaulted the Assistant Superintendent of the Boossa High-Security Prison. This assault has led to a highly volatile situation within the prison.

A group of inmates began behaving riotously, protesting against the delay in lunch, the transfer of inmates' cells, and the arrest of a prison guard. At that moment, the Assistant Prison Superintendent arrived at the scene to control the situation.

There, two inmates assaulted the Assistant Superintendent's face, causing his nose to bleed, and he was admitted to Karapitiya Hospital for treatment. With this incident, the tense situation within the prison further escalated.

However, steps were taken to summon a group of officers from Galle Prison to control the situation, and accordingly, by evening, officers managed to secure the prison and bring the situation under control.
