A person died after a part of a prime mover vehicle fell off at a construction site in Wadduwa.

A helper of a prime mover vehicle has died in an accident that occurred at a construction site near 47th Lane, Wellawatte. Wellawatte Police state that this accident occurred due to the collapse of a ramp section of the vehicle, weighing approximately 500 kilograms.

Police reveal that the deceased is 61-year-old S.A. Sarath Perera, a resident of No. 537, Eriyawetiya, Kelaniya.

Police state that a piling machine brought for a multi-story building being constructed by a private company was ready to be moved to another location. While the machine was being loaded onto the low-bed trailer of the prime mover vehicle, the ramp section of the vehicle suddenly collapsed, and the helper was trapped underneath, sustaining serious injuries.

Although the injured person was immediately admitted to Kalubowila Teaching Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries a short while later.
