Residents allege that nearly a month has passed since the Ihala Gama cemetery, located on the Gampola, Dunukeulla main road, experienced a landslide due to heavy rains caused by Cyclone Ditwa, exposing buried bodies and coffins onto the road, yet authorities have not intervened to remove them.

This disaster was reported on the 27th of last month.

Despite authorities being informed about this for nearly a month, their failure to address the situation has left the local population in severe fear of disease. Furthermore, they state that approximately two thousand families in the Dunukeulla area are stranded due to the blocked road.

Commenting on the matter, local resident Ms. Jayanthi Kumari stated: "Four coffins containing buried bodies have emerged from the cemetery due to the landslide and are now on the road. It's almost a month today. We informed the Udapalatha Divisional Secretary about this, but received no response. We are now helpless. Dangerous diseases could spread from these rotting, mud-covered bodies."
